ABSEILING AND
ROCK CLIMBING
`That
first step back was the hardest. Once I’d taken
those
baby steps, I could sit back in my harness and
soak
in the spectacular scenery.’ Chris
Turner
Strap
yourself
in and take that leap. You can choose
from
beginners to advanced trips of ½,1 or 2 days. You can just
abseil, or combine it with rock climbing.
We
use a variety
of
locations including:
- You
Yangs
- Situated
only 62km from
Melbourne CBD, the You Yangs offer a very basic introduction to
abseiling. The largest descent is 20m. It is a
lovely site with BBQ
facilities and many walking tracks. Choose from a half day or full
day. We can provide a BBQ or gourmet lunch.
- Werribee
Gorge
-
Situated
only 80km from
Melbourne CBD, Werribee Gorge offers both beginners and advanced
abseiling. The largest descent is 55m.
There
is a 30-minute
walk in to
the site. Full day only. Includes a gourmet lunch.
- The
Grampians
- Situated
about 4 hours from
Melbourne, The Grampians offer some of the largest and most spectacular
cliffs in Australia. Descents range from 30m to
100m. An overnight
stay is recommended to get the most out of the trip. You can
camp or
stay indoors at a nearby venue. Enjoy two days of sheer
exhilaration
and magnificent views.
- Mount
Arapiles
- Situated
about 4 hours from
Melbourne, Mt Arapiles has long been regarded as the world’s
best
climbing and abseiling area. It is a haven for climbers and
abseilers
from all over the world. Descents average around 55m. An
overnight
stay is recommended to allow 2 days of abseiling. Camping is
the best
option so you can enjoy the very social atmosphere Arapiles has to
offer. We can arrange hotel or B&B accommodation if
preferred.
- Mount
Buffalo
-
Situated
about 4 hours from
Melbourne, Mt Buffalo is undeniably the most picturesque of all the
abseiling sites. It overlooks the Victorian Alps and has
pristine
glades, bubbling streams,
and
beautiful flora and fauna.
Descents
range from 30m to 100m. An overnight stay is recommended to
allow 2
days of abseiling. Soak up the beauty of this location by
camping at
the base of the mountain. Or stay in a nearby venue.
All
meals,
transport,
accommodation, equipment, and instruction are included.
`My
first climb was
physically and emotionally challenging.
When I
reached the top, I
thought I could conquer the world!’
